Geur: open, zeer fruitig, rood fruit, bessen, iets kruidig
Smaak: sappige wijn, rode kersen, bessen, elegant, hint van eiken, gewoon heel lekker
Houdbaar: op dronk en blijft nog zeker houdbaar tot 2027
Lekker bij: gevogelte (kwartel of eend), gebakken zalm, kalfsvlees of gewoon zonder eten.

Proefnotitie Julien Schaal:
The Mountain Vineyards Pinot Noir is a lovely luminosity – the colour is bright crimson. The nose has delicate earthy aromas combined with red and dark berry flavours. On the palate these characteristics follow through combining with interesting savoury notes and just a touch of oak on the finish.

Vinificatie:
The grapes were harvested by hand at optimal ripeness and sorted in the cellar to ensure only the best fruit was used for fermentation. A portion of the blend was fermented as whole berries. The wine fermented naturally and aged in barrel (300L) for 12 months.

Happy days. Julien Schaal, who makes wine both in Alsace and South Africa, has added an Elgin Pinot Noir to his portfolio, tasty stuff at [a] relatively inexpensive price. A hint of flinty reduction to go with alluring musk and red cherry on the nose before a palate that shows good fruit density, moderate acidity and soft tannins.
