Tierhoek Piekenierskloof Grenache 2021

Delicious, fruity and spicy wine made from the popular Spanish Variety. Soft expressions of plum and cherries, with a delicate hint of spice, and harmonious barrel integration. Top class Grenache is now synonymous with the Piekenierskloof. Will age 4-5 years.

Winemakers Word:
The wine was naturally fermented in open tanks for 2 weeks, with punch downs 3 times a day by hand, and then kept on skins for a week after fermentation. After being pressed, it went to old barrels for 9 months. Some Syrah (10%) was blended in to help give the wine some structure and ageing potential.

Viticulture:
These unirrigated bush vines grow on a South West slope of decomposed Sandstone. All farming is done organically. Yields are 3-4 tonne per hectare.

Crammed with ripe juicy mulberries, gentle tangy tannin freshness & oak-harmonised for few months, dry 2021 is perfectly balanced & youthfully moreish. 14% alcohol. 2020 not made.
