Grangehurst Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Kleur: intens robijnrood
Geur: knalt het glas uit, donker rijp fruit, bramen en kersen, duidelijk vanille van de houtrijping, waanzinnig lang.
Smaak: dik, zwoel en krachtig, alles veel: smaak, tannine, zuren, maar wel in balans.
Houdbaar: op dronk, nog wel lange tijd houdbaar, zeker tot eind 2030
Lekker bij: kan alles aan met veel smaak: wild, geroosterd rundvlees, lamsbout etc. Niet te versmaden bij oude Hollandse kaas, zoals Reypenaar.

Tasting notes:
Medium-dark plum colour; slightly sweet red berries, cassis, violets with mocha, cedar complexity from barrel maturation. A full-bodied, elegant wine with the balance and structure to last up to 20 years if cellared under favourable conditions..

A selection of 15 barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon from the two vineyards were racked and blended into a stainless steel tank. After a period of settling, the wine was racked again into the bottling tank from where it flowed by gravity via a cartridge filter into the filler. A limited release of 408 magnums and 4,304 bottles were bottled and labelled under the black and gold “reserve” label.

Care taken: dab merlot, grape sorting, 50% wholeberry ferment in barrel & tank, oaked 26 months, no fining/filtration. 2009 shows it, intense cassis, savoury spiced, a fynbos nuance; tannins integrated, silky smooth but end grip promises more time in cellar.
