Maturation: This wine was matured for 11 months in 3rd and 4th fill French oak 225L barrels & 500L demi-muids, as well as large upright wooden vats.

Tasting Note Kloof Street Red: This Swartland medley brims with beautiful dark berry fruit on both the nose and palate. It shows great balance, rounded with hints of white perpper and a fresh, granitic finish. Each variety in the blend adds depth to the wine:  the Cinsault brings perfume, Tinta Barocca brings tannin, the Grenache brings fruit character, and the Syrah ties it all together.

“Almost too good,” mused Chris Mullineux when he poured this wine and I know what he means. Combining Syrah, 30% Grenache, 17% Tinta Barocca and 10% Cinsault, it massively over-delivers at its price point, with perfumed 30% whole bunches, bramble, red cherry and white pepper flavours and some granitic grip and freshness. Almost impossible to beat at the price. 2024-29

Delightful snapshot of Swartland, from grapes that do well there, 41/32 syrah & grenache noir, 2 others in 2022, on variety of soils. Succulent mouthful of dark berry & bramble fruit, excellent balance with olive tapenade farewell. 70% wholebunch; only half oaked, year. These very well-priced & made for earlier drinking, but no rush.
